Mike's Tips: Using different Paper

Mike painting

Using different papers can make all the difference to the look of your painting. Try different surfaces (e.g. rough or smooth) and experiment with different tones and colours.

Rough paper will tend to give a more impressionistic and "broken" edge to the work whilst a smoother surface will be more suitable to an illustrative painting.

Try to get paper sample sheets from the manufacturers before you buy - paper can be very expensive!
